Interpretation

TolkeNett provides interpreting services to healthcare, the public sector, the judiciary and private businesses across Norway. With a network of around 10,000 interpreters we cover more than 170 languages, in every format from on-site interpreting to telephone and video interpreting. From our office in Oslo we coordinate assignments throughout the country, including at short notice. Our interpreters convey what is said, the way it is said, and their understanding of cultural nuance ensures mutual respect between everyone in the conversation.

In-Person Interpreting

An interpreter meets personally with the parties involved in a conversation. The dialogue is interpreted consecutively, with the interpreter conveying what is said immediately after each speaker. Being present allows the interpreter to access non-verbal cues, enhancing communication.

Telephone Interpreting

When time and distance hinder in-person interpreting, telephone interpreting offers a quick and cost-effective alternative. Multiple interpreters are available for urgent assignments, as interpreters from other regions can assist regardless of travel distance. Telephone interpreting may also be preferred to maintain the anonymity of the parties involved.

Screen and Video Interpreting

Screen interpreting is an excellent solution when neither in-person nor telephone interpreting meets the needs of the conversation. Through screen interpreting, parties can see each other, and the interpreter can be ready on short notice. This method is more affordable and environmentally friendly, as it eliminates the need for travel. Our integrated video solution in our CRM system makes correspondence with meeting links unnecessary.

Document Interpreting

If there's an urgent need to understand the content of a document, primavista interpretation can be the fastest solution. The interpreter will then read the submitted document and orally translates its content into the required language. This can be done via telephone, screen, or in person.

Conference Interpreting

For joint meetings and courses, there may be a need for uninterrupted interpreting. In such cases, using simultaneous interpreting can maintain the quality of interpretation and save time. The interpretation occurs nearly simultaneously with the speaker's speech. For smaller audiences, the interpreter may whisper the interpretation, but for larger groups, interpreting equipment is necessary.

Driving Theory Test Interpreting

TolkeNett is approved by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and offers screen interpreting for the theory part of the driving test. Our interpreters can also assist with in-person interpreting during the conversation before and after the practical driving test if needed.

Sign Language Interpreting

A sign language interpreter enables communication between people using sign language and spoken language. The interpreter ensures that all parties are understood — regardless of language form.

Intercultural Liaison

A cultural mediator creates safety and dialogue between minority communities and public authorities. By identifying early signs of mistrust, they help prevent escalation and promote understanding across cultures.
